The prevention of accidents and injury is a prime objective of REDS and Sturrock & Robson, and great importance is placed on ensuring and maintaining the health and safety of employees and personnel from other organisations working alongside our own employees.

It is the intention of the company to observe and comply with the provisions of the Health and Safety Act 1974 and to take any additional measures it sees fit in the promotion of safety, for both employees and all others affected by our works.

The company’s objectives are:

  • To ensure that all work places are suitably equipped and free from recognised hazards, which are liable to cause death, injury or illness
  • To provide employees and sub-contractors with suitable safety equipment where appropriate
  • To comply in every aspect to the laws which regulate employee and sub-contractor health and safety
  • To ensure health and safety remains independent from economic considerations and pressures
  • To provide clear and precise procedures to ensure consultation and communications between all levels of management and employees and sub-contractors within the company on all matters relating to health and safety
  • To hold all supervisory staff responsible for developing and maintaining safety consciousness among their staff
  • To seek ways of improving health and safety in the work environment and undertake safety training, monitoring and awareness, response and benefit of the training
  • To encourage the development of personal health and safety of individuals in their own sphere of activity to prevent injury to themselves and to other people and to report accidents, hazards and unsafe practices to their superiors
  • To endeavour to use its influence to encourage all suppliers and customers utilised in matters affecting OH&S, to comply with OHSAS 18001:2007 standard, statutory and regulatory requirements and prevailing duties of care
  • To strive to achieve zero tolerance towards hazards, incidents and accidents
  • To strive to continuously improve OHS management by setting OHS objectives, plans and performance and regularly reviewing progress against targets set
  • To involve all our people in OHS management through consultation, and by contributing to identifying, assessing and controlling hazards and reviewing health and safety performance

Environmental Policy

REDS recognises the importance of looking after our environment and is committed to operating its business responsibly and in compliance with all legal requirements relating to the provision of specialist site engineering and inspection services including diving, rope access and confined space working.

It is the company’s objective to take all measures that are reasonably practicable to meet its environmental responsibilities through the implementation of the following:

  • Ensure that the environment is a prime consideration in all of our activities
  • Compliance with all statutory requirements for environmental matters, taking into account environmental impact when making decisions
  • Improve awareness of all environmental matters among employees and sub-contractors and ensure that every effort is made to reduce the impact to the environment of all company activities
  • Pollution prevention: to monitor the environmental impact of our activities closely and respond promptly and efficiently in the event of an incident
  • Management of our resources to save energy and reduce wastage, recycling where appropriate
  • Promote the use of recyclable and renewable materials, and buy from sustainable or responsible sources where possible
  • Control noise emissions from operations
  • Minimise the risk to the general public and employees from operations and activities undertaken by the company
